When I began training Jim in September of 2018, he weighed over 300 pounds. He had already lost almost 100 pounds, but wanted to lose more. He also wanted to improve his balance and coordination so he could confidently ride his motorcycle again.
Jim had several orthopedic concerns which were causing pain and discomfort. He hoped that his training program would help mitigate the effects of these issues and help to improve his overall quality of life. He mentioned how increasing his stamina would help make time spent with his grandchildren more enjoyable.
Jim and I began training together twice a week. His comprehensive training program addressed all of his fitness goals. From our very first session, Jim was eager to learn. He was determined to maximize the benefits of all of the exercises and techniques I was teaching him.
There were plenty of obstacles along the way, including the Covid 19 outbreak. When the virus forced us to switch from in person to virtual sessions, Jim turned a negative into a positive. He could now train with me from either his local home or his vacation home!
Jim’s progress the last 3 ½ years has been stunning. His weight has gone from 301 to 207, his waist circumference has dropped from 52” to 42 1/2”, and his BMI has gone from 42 to 29.
Jim’s daily life has changed as well. Not only has he regained the confidence to ride his motorcycle again, he’s developed a passion for bicycling! He rides his bike regularly for several miles at a time. He also enjoys fishing and kayaking with his grandson and he often completes physical do-it-yourself tasks at his home. These are endeavors he struggled to do before.
Jim’s story shows us that amazing things are possible when we commit ourselves to living healthy and fit. His journey is truly inspiring. I am grateful that I’ve been able to be a part of it!
